Small Pitcher

$80.00

Approx. 6" w x 7.25" h

Wheel-thrown, altered, assembled and glazed by hand. This pitcher features gold Shino glaze with turquoise drips and splashes on a high fired porcelain/stoneware blend clay. Inspired by a trip to the ancient pottery section of the San Antonio Museum of Art.

Turquoise glaze painted over a thin layer of gold shino produced this rough, matte, copper and silver circles.

Shino glazes are distinctive in their surface effects that happen naturally during firing. Carbon trapping is one such beautiful reduction surface effect. As the name implies, the surfaces are characterized by variegated patterns of grey and black caused by carbon that gets trapped under the surface of a glaze or clay body during reduction firing.

One-of-a-kind piece. Continental US shipping included.
