Shino Splash Jar White
Approx. 7.5" w x 5" h (can hold about 4.5 cups of dried, black beans)
Wheel-thrown and glazed by hand. This jar features white Shino glaze with turquoise drips and splashes on a high fired, high iron, dark clay.
Shino glazes are distinctive in their surface effects that happen naturally during firing. “Pitting” or “pin-holes” (though often undesired) is one such beautiful reduction surface effect in my opinion. As the name implies, the surfaces are characterized by tiny holes; spaces the glaze seems to have skipped over due to tiny bubbles forming from the stirred glaze before dipping.
One-of-a-kind piece. Continental US shipping included.
